Considerations when buying a chainsaw
Dependant on the manufacturer, chainsaws are usually broken down into three main categories Domestic, Mid-range or ‘Farm Saw' and Professional.
Domestic Chainsaws - Ideal for chopping Firewood, general home jobs, and the ability to fell small trees. These saws are aimed at users who require the use of a chainsaw for infrequent jobs.
Mid-Range (Farm Saw) - Robust tough and powerful these saws are designed for the more demanding jobs. Ideal for use on farms where they may not be required for everyday use, but when they are required they need to be reliable and powerful and able to withstand hard use. The pitfall is they can be heavy, and can feel slightly unbalanced. These saws are not designed to be used for long periods of daily use.
Professional chainsaws - The highest quality of chainsaw in a manufacturers range. These saws are designed with Power-Weight in mind. Special attention has been made to make these saws as user friendly as possible, vibrations are as low as possible and balance is an important feature. These saws are designed to be use frequently and for tough jobs.
