    Having heavily used the predecessor 130R for a few years I’ve been impressed with the performance, reliability and ruggedness of the unit and also its versatility when paired up with the Kombi tools. In use this newer model seems a little smoother running, is certainly easier and quicker to start but more importantly has corrected a previous design flaw in now moving the spark plug cap/HT lead which was an annoying weakness on the old model as invariably being on the front/top the cap got rubbed and knocked resulting in the lead loosening to the point of occasional engine ignition failure. If this one performs as good or even better than the former then no complaints from me. In closing I would add – get the Stihl RTS Super Harness to go with it – well worth the investment.

    Used the KM130R for years now Best Buy ever!! The work I have done with it has more than paid for the purchase !!

    When I see what my neighbours are paying for work , I mean one good clear out job and you have your money back
    I have added a tool each year as a birthday or Xmas present and now have most of the attachments Kombi tools .

    The Pruner Head is the best tool keep your chain Sharp which is easy on this size chain also have two new on stand bye
    so you can finish any job It will cut way beyond what you would think given time
    Best thing I ever bought !!!

    Ordered two of these Kombi units as I like to have a backup for when one is being serviced or repaired. These units are replacing my 5 year old Km130s which are still in very good working order.

    Caveat emptor professional hedge cutters! I have mixed feelings about the new version 131r. I’m a professional landscaper, mostly doing hedges. I got the new 131r assuming it would just be a updated engine. Unfortunately stihl have done away with the auto lock trigger/throttle on all the new models, which allows you to keep the engine running whilst holding the unit in a more ergonomic way when using it. I’m currently having to clip a cable tie over the trigger to keep it running, which is not great (or safe). No doubt only a few people will probably know what I’m moaning about. Other than that, the engine runs well, which is to be expected of stihl. A real shame they’ve taken a step back with the trigger mech :(

    Excellent multi tool engine with more than required power to do almost anything in the garden – own a KM94 already which is tame compared with this beast ! – Recommended for professional use unless hourly paid – then use the KM94 or a smaller 4stroke or 4mix would be enough !
