The 500 AL has a non-rust alloy chassis, zone start and a wash-port (hosepipe connection)  to help keep the underside of the mower clean. The 500 AL is fitted with a Smart Chute as standard, it enables the operator to switch easily from collecting to side/rear discharge of the clippings. The Quickcut™, swing back blade system is designed to protect the crankshaft from damage should the blade strike a solid object.

The 500 AL comes fitted as standard with a low vibration handle-bar.

    I’ve owned one of these for 17 years. In that time it’s had a couple of new spark plugs, a couple of air filters and a few oil changes as well as the occasional blast with a pressure washer and for all that lack of attention it’s still going strong. The swing blades are massively forgiving of hitting the odd stone or a fallen bit of tree without complaint on rough ground but it also gives a great cut on regular lawns. Like everything from New Zealand it’s as tough as old boots and it’s an all round brilliant machine.
