Get ready for the new fuel-efficient STIHL SH56 Â for occasional users. Powered by a low emissions engine. Â While a specialised shredder blade on the fan wheel reduces garden waste, this shredder vac also converts easily into a handheld petrol leaf blower. Fitted with a semi-automatic choke and stop switch for smooth starts, this blower automatically resets to the starting position to help prevent accidental flooding.
Reduced-emission engine technology
2-stroke engine with stratified charge. A fuel-free layer of air is created between the burned charge in the combustion chamber and the fresh charge in the crankcase, reducing the amount of fuel lost during the charge cycle. This results in more power with a lower weight, up to 20% lower fuel consumption than regular 2-stroke engines and significantly reduced exhaust emissions.
Catalytic converter (D)
Considerably reduces the number of harmful particles in the exhaust gas.
Manual fuel pump (purger)
A small fuel pump delivers fuel to the carburettor at the touch of a button. This reduces the number of starting pulls required following extended breaks in operations.
Multi-function control handle
This houses all the engine controls. Easy, comfortable thumb-operated control means the operator’s hand never leaves the handle.
Integrated shoulder strap for vacuum bag
The integrated shoulder strap makes vacuuming for long periods of time less tiring. Allowing for much more movement whilst helping to support the weight of the collection bag.

Seems straightforward to operate. Very noisy: don’t use without ear protection!

I am 5′, 78 years old and weigh just under 7 stone, so have struggled to find a suitable leaf vacuum that was variable speed for one of my gardens which has a lot of different sized gravels. My Tesco one was OK with a rubber wire, but then died. Bosch one had a wire which trailed everywhere and wasn’t made of rubber, so never lay flat and was a hazard to work with. Then I got another cheap one which again had a plastic wire and was hazardous as well as being very noisy.
Finally after many cash birthday gifts earlier this year I was able to get this one from Radmore and Tucker who were kind enough to assemble it and delivery it as I have arthritic hands. I wish I had invested in this one right from the start as it was false economy to buy the others. It is a little on the heavy side due to the battery but as I only do about 20 minutes at a time I can manage it. No wires means it’s also safe. After 20 minutes I have only used one bar of the 5 bar battery life.
But the best thing is that it actually is incredibly sensitive regarding suction speed, and as I only have it on low suction the battery life lasts for ages before needing a recharge. I also don’t need ear protection as at low speed it is very quiet in comparison to others. I recommend R&T highly and also this leaf vacuum. The bag is easy to put on and off, and the machine is simply fantastic. Battery charger is fast and the battery very easy to put in and remove. First class machine and first class service! Now autumn is here and it is doing a brilliant job. Thank you very much.
