    I purchased this wedge specifically to split about 50 rings of 75 cm diameter beech. Each ring being approx 25cm thick. Vintage type steel wedges just seem to bounce off or need a lot of effort to drive. In comparison to steel wedges, using this aluminium twisting wedge by Stihl is just amazing. So much less effort both to get it started & in splitting the logs apart using far less effort and blows with the sledge hammer. For me, a really worthwhile investment which has already proved itself in the time I have saved using it.
