I bought the MS261 around 4 years ago. It was my first foray into cutting our own firewood and the guys at Radmore & Tucker were absolutely brilliant giving no nonsense advise especially regarding personal safety gear. I went on a one day course which included a complete saw strip down, chain sharpening and health & safety. The MS261 is perfect for general firewood harvesting and large enough even for good size fallen oak (using a sharp chain). The saw starts easy and is straightforward to maintain and keep clean. Best thing we ever did – thanks to Radmore & Tucker and, of course, excellent Stihl engineering.

Stihl ms261 c-m.
V.early days but pleased with the saw.Possibly stihl’s best all-round pro saw.I went for the 16″ bar which I feel is the sweet spot for this saw.Its offered in the States with a 20″ bar which is a bit silly in my book.If you need that size bar-go for its big brother the ms362.Its my first mtronic saw and hopefuly the teething problems with early mtronic software has been sorted now. This saw is now on v.3 software. Its been fitted with a different solenoid and an upgraded orange fuel filter-available as a cheap kit if ever needed. Also,if problems occur, the mtronic can be reset/recalibrated yourself. If you’re in the market for a stihl 50cc class saw,you may well be tempted by the ms 271.But if you can spend the extra-get this model, more horsepower/a couple of pounds lighter/magnesium casing/captive bar nuts/decomp.valve/elastostart,just a much better built saw which is reflected in its pricing.Radmore&tucker good to deal with and quickly resolve any problems-usually courier related in my experience, competetive pricing too.

I umm’d and aah’d for a while about buying the 261 wondering if I needed another saw and if it was would match the hype because I’ve never read or seen a bad review of it but eventually I took the leap. It was a no brainer to use R&T because their service and delivery are second to none and their prices are always competitive. It’s now on its 6th tank of fuel limbing and bucking downed oak and beech and it’s been absolutely fantastic. Light, fast, plenty of power, incredibly easy to start and not too thirsty on the fuel or oil. I’m using Stihl Super semi-synthetic in the fuel mix and keeping the chain sharp and it’s singing like a bird. Early doors but so far I can’t recommend it highly enough and the same goes for Radmore and Tucker.

I didn’t want to stick a review up on this saw until I’d had a chance to really get to grips with it. Honestly? Probably the very best chainsaw I have owned and used.
I’ve cut trees for 25 years and this saw is the most fun everyday bit of kit I have had the pleasure to use. 10 months in and I can’t fault it at all – it’s light, got stacks of oomph, easy to clean, efficient on fuel and on cutting….. If you’re thinking of an upgrade, go for the 261. I promise you won’t be let down at all. What a pleasure. Well worth the money.

…and I forgot to say that Radmore & Tucker are right up there as one of the best online dealers in garden and forestry kit. Thank you all for doing that which you do so well.

Bought the saw for a sculpture commission after my old saw died. Couldn’t be happier. The service from Radmore and Tucker was brilliant. Polite and efficient and delivered in person. The price was below any other I could find. Will be shopping with you again. Thank you.

Delighted with both the Stihl MS261 and service from Radmore & Tucker. The MS261 followed extensive online research and selection of Radmore & Tucker was based upon very competitive pricing and positive feedback from customers. No hesitation in recommending both aspects.

Fantastic saw used the old 026 which wasn’t a bad saw but not in the same class as the 261 got mine with a 16inch bar, seen some using them with 20 inch bars but why not use a bigger saw in the first place. Lovely to use all day with plenty of power, the new style 1.3mm chain cuts fast to, run mine with full chisel stihl chain, fantastic pice of kit.

I purchased this saw for a big job which involved a lot of cross-cutting for firewood. After a very quick service and delivery from Radmore & Tucker, the 261 showed its worth and did not miss a beat. It ate through big bits of timber and the power to weight is second to none. We used it for 3 days straight and as it’s so light we barely felt a thing. If you need a small professional saw which packs a punch, you should definitely add this to your arsenal.

Really happy with my MS261. Purchased with a 16″ bar, seen people run bigger bars, but i have a MS462 for bigger work. I don’t doubt that the 261 would definitely handle a 20″ bar comfortably. Cant fault the service from radmore and tucker and the price was well below what I could find anywhere else. Will be a returning customer.
