FSA 50 Cordless Grass Trimmer: easy-to-use grass trimmer for mowing and clearing work at home
The STIHL FSA 50 is an battery-powered grass trimmer that is perfect for taking on trimming, mowing and lawn edging work in your home garden. Part of the AK System of battery tools, this grass trimmer has low noise emissions you don’t have to worry about disturbing any neighbours either.
The FSA 50 is supplied with the AutoCut C 3-2 mowing head which can be refilled without the need for tools. It can also be used with the PolyCut 3-2 too (sold separately). The grass trimmer is fitted with a soft grip round handle that can be adjusted without the need for tools. It also has a re-designed adjustable telescopic shaft and a mowing head that can be set at 3 different angles. This helps you to trim in awkward areas, such as underneath benches or when mowing along slopes, around trees or on uneven terrains. A newly designed spacer bracket protects the grass trimmer from damaging fragile objects such as plants and flowers too. Plus, the mowing head can be rotated 90 degrees for trimming along lawn edges.
A variable speed trigger allows you to precisely control the speed of the mowing head, which helps to extend the working life of your battery too. Excellent balance and a low weight make this an ideal entry-level grass trimmer for operators of all ages and abilities.
On a full charge with the AK 10 battery, the FSA 50 has a working time of up-to 25 minutes. What’s more, this battery provides perfect balance when used, making work even more comfortable!
Key Features
Adjustability – To suit operators of different heights, the FSA 50 has a telescopic shaft and a head that can be adjusted to 3 different angles. This also allows the user to trim in awkward areas, for example underneath benches.
Edger function – Like the FSA 30 and FSA 45, the shaft of the FSA 50 can be ritated 90 degrees in order to neatly trim lawn edges.
Flexible spacer – The spacer teatures an orange bumper that protects fragile objects such as plants and tree bark from damage. To trim close to hard surfaces such as fences, the bumper can be pressed, allowing all the grass to be cut.
New deflector with improved visibility. Greater control, cutting line marking helps to improve trimming accuracy.
Variable speed control. Enables precise control.
Fitted with AutoCut C 3-2. Easy to use and refill, also compatible with the PolyCut 3-2, the FSA 50 has storage on the tool for 2 spare PolyCut blades.

I recently bought the new Stihl FSA strimmer and I am not disappointed, it is of the same build quality as all the other Stihl garden tools. It is easy to use & a lot of thought has gone into the design of it. The angle of the strimmer head can be adjusted & it is easy to convert the strimmer into a lawn edger. I bought the strimmer unit only as I already had one of Stihl battery operated lawnmowers last year.

I recently purchased the Stihl FSA 50 bundle with charger and AK 10 battery. My first outing with it was cutting bracken, thistles and nettles on pasture land. The cutter out-performed its spec, providing me with 1 hr 10 mins of use with the poly-cut head. This is probably due to the variable power throttle – for much of the time I was able to cut with the power held at approximately half. The only downside is holding the cutter for such a prolonged period of time (I also had a second battery) causes strain on the hand, and there doesn’t seem to be any kind of harness available for the machine. Time to improvise…

Really good machine. Easy to handle and operate. Very adjustable. If I had a lot of trimming / brush cutting to do I would buy a bigger model with a harness for support. But for my purposes the FSA 50 is fine.
I bought the machine only as I could use the AK 10 Battery from my Stihl hedge trimmer.

I bought the FSA 50 brush cutter, firstly because I trust Stihl; as I have used their products professionally and as a homeowner for many years. I purchased some of the first Stihl cordless equipment in 2012 professionally; even then Stihl’s R and D was ahead of many other manufacturers. As a retired professional, I had recently purchased the RMA 239 mower with AK 30 batteries, so the FSA 50 was a perfect fit.

The FSA50 strimmer complements my hedge trimmer and chainsaw all using the AK(10 in my case) battery system. The quality is up to the same high standard as all my other Stihl machines. It needs a harness and although not supplied with one there is a suitable fixing hole just above the handle where I have clipped on one I already had. It’s a pity the batteries are so expensive but at least I can share one pair between 3 machines!
Needless to say, Radmore & Tucker’s legendary service was as perfect as ever, so I can be confident that my kit will continue to be cared for over the years to come.

Bought the brush strimmer after trying a friends Stihl grass strimmer. Liked the quality of that product but wanted something that would deal with the tougher parts of my allotment and didn’t use blades. Was attracted to the price of Radmore & Tucker and the free postage. Strimmer was slightly delayed but arrived in original packaging and was quickly put together. Battery charges quickly and first trip to the plot allowed me to cut all grass paths and edges and strike off the tough weeds on a couple of beds and some brambles . All on one charge.
