The RMA 443 (RMA 443.3) from STIHL is a battery-powered push-along lawn mower designed for users looking to cut medium-sized to large lawns at home. This lawn mower is built with a rugged polymer deck that is lightweight, rust proof and double layered for additional stability. It’s UV resistant, has a 41 cm cutting width and single point height adjustment that is adjustable between 20 – 100 mm. The RMA 443 is part of the AK System range of tools and is powered by an AK 20 battery that is interchangeable with other machines across the range. There are two slots in the powerhead for two AK batteries, so when the first runs out of power you can quickly switch to the second. On a full charge with the recommended AK 20 battery you will be able to mow lawns up to 300 m2.
The RMA 443 has 4 different ways of mowing. No additional tools are required but we do recommend you refer to the owner’s manual before working. You can either:
- Cut & collect with the grass catcher box fitted
- Cut & drop by removing the grass catcher box
- Side discharge with the flap that is integrated into the deck
- Mulch by switching it to mulch mode
The comfort mono-handlebar allows easy access to the grass catcher box, making it easier to remove and empty when it’s full – plus, thanks to the fill level indicator on the grass catcher box you’ll know exactly when to empty the box too! The 52-litre grass catcher box is ergonomically designed and easy to fully open for fast emptying. The sturdy mono-handlebar is height adjustable and foldable for compact storage after use.

This is an excellent mower. I decided to go battery this year, and this was actually my 2nd choice as the smaller model i wanted was out of stock. Honestly, am glad it was out of stock! Turns out my 2nd choice was the perfect mower for my lawns.
Have only done the 1st small cut of the year on a couple of small lawns, but already am so happy. The cut is crisp, and the mower is nice and easy to move around. Plus, it is so quiet. No need for ear protection.
I was unsure about the 1 arm handle bar thingy, but no, it works!! Really easy to grab box and pop back in, and the folding handle’s a bonus if ever i want to mow a friends lawn and need to transport it. It does not feel compromised when pushing around either. One of my lawns in on a slight slope, and it just felt solid in the couple of akwards sections.
One little cool feature of the folding handle, that i did not see mentioned anywhere until reading the intructions is that you can also stand it upright once folded. The stub of the handle doubles as a foot, and one of the carry handles as the other. This works better for me, and could for others with limited space.
I am very happy with this mower. It has converted me, and i will be replacing all my smelly tools with battery ones this year.
