A good machine. I worked really well straight out of the box:
Strong construction, quiet, and either crushes or shreds into reasonable chips (using the side adjuster). The bin safety catch is a bit fiddly.
Very pleased with it so far.

Radmore & Tucker provided great service at a really competitive price. The chipper is the second Makita I have owned, the first provided 10 years hard service. It works really well but can block with small twiggy material, this can be avoided to some extent if you regularly check that material is falling away from the shredder (either empty the box or tip it so that the chippings are spread around the box). The safety switch on the box can be fiddly to engage. We find it is no problem if the chipper is tilted and the box then slid in amd then locked in place. A great chipper that will save £000’s in skip costs. and much cheaper than competitor products.

So far, we are impressed. A great shredder which handles lots of waste easily. It made short work of a huge pile of prunings we had waiting. It is relatively quiet when operating and shreds the waste quite finely once you’ve got the setting right. The safety switch on the box is a little fiddly and we found that you need to open the box to move waste from below the cutter or it starts to block. That said, it’s a good buy.

Purchased as it was recommended by “Which”, and support local business by buying locally. Thank you R&T for assembling it before delivery, It does a very good job in reducing the volume of garden detritus by at least half, and then used as a mulch. It is very quite to run. As with previous comments the safety switch on the clippings box is fiddly but apart from that a brilliant workhorse for the garden

Does what it says it does.
Some people may not get on with the locking clip on the bucket but I found once I had got the knack it was perfect. Good company to deal with in these difficult times.

Shredding performance is impressive. I had a big pile of prunings waiting for it, much of which was right on the limit of the 45mm stated maximum diameter, but it coped with it easily; in fact it seemed to work better with the thicker stuff, which was a positive surprise. The catch on the box is the only frustration. Many other reviews have said it’s fiddly, but I still decided to go ahead and buy because most of them were still positive, and because its a Makita and I didnt believe it could be that bad. I was shocked at how bad it is! It took me more than half an hour to open the box the first time I tried. I did eventually master it, and once you have the right technique it works, but it is flimsy, and not what you expect from Makita. I just hope it lasts?
Radmore and Tucker were very good. Sensible price, good communication, and effecient delivery. Can’t really ask for more than that.

This is an excellent and powerful shredder that takes no prisoners. If you make sure that the bin doesn’t get too full, you’re likely to have a trouble free time shredding with no clogging of the mechanism.

Good piece of equipment – manages everything (in its specification) well.
Nice and steady (heavy but quite manageable.
The box catch is fiddly but perfectly useable one you get used to it.
Delivered quickly and pre assembled all ready to go without the need to dispose of boxes, packing etc
Great service from R&T
